Prof. Malik praises Dr. Rahman for starting quiz contest

Bhopal: Prof. M. Ashraf Malik, Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent of JN Medical College and Hospital, Aligarh Muslim University, (AMU), Aligarh while inaugurating the ‘Special Quiz Centre’ for ITP-IPS National Pharmacology Quiz 2008, said that there is a need to provide all medical students a platform so that they can demonstrate their creativity, share their vision, and apply their analytical skills in a totally relaxed environment.

According to a Press release issued by Zeeshan Ahmad, Assistant Public Relations’ Officer in AMU, Prof. Malik praised the efforts of Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacology in JN Medical College, in taking the lead in starting such quiz competitions for pharmacology students. Under the guidance of Dr. Rahman, Department of Pharmacology, organized a preliminary round of ITP-IPS National Pharmacology Quiz.

After written test to screen out the best five candidates, vocal round with six sessions was held. Dr. Shewale Rishikesh (KGMU, Lucknow), Dr. M. Iftikhar (JNMC, AMU, Aligarh) and Dr. Yogesh Khunte (JNMC, AMU, Aligarh) have been selected for National Quiz. These three will now form an “Aligarh Team” to participate in the Final Round at 41st Annual Conference of Indian Pharmacological Society at AIIMS, New Delhi.

Dr. Rahman, who is the National Coordinator of ITP-IPS National Pharmacology Quiz 2008 at New Delhi, informed that at least 10 teams of 3 members will play the final round.

The judges namely Dr. Hammad Usmani (Department of Anaesthesiology), Dr. Piyush Kumar (Department of Psychiatry) and Dr. Onkar Singh (Department of Pharmacology) announced the final results and distributed the attendance certificate to all participants.

Dr. Varun Gupta (Department of Pharmacology) and Dr. Girish Meshram (Department of Pharmacology) helped in maintaining the time and score. Dr. Jameel Ahmad (Lecturer, Department of Pharmacology) announced a special prize from his side to one of the attendee who answered highest number of times from the audience. ([email protected])
