Ranchi : Had Abbas Ansari reached the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus a few minutes earlier Wednesday night, he and members of his family might have been alive today. Ansari is among the nine residents of Jharkhand who were killed during the terror attacks in Mumbai.
According to the police, six members of a family belonging to the Koderma district in Jharkhand were killed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Wednesday night.
Ansari missed the train he was scheduled to catch as he reached the station a few minutes late. The delay cost him and his family members their lives, the police added.
Terrorists fired indiscriminately at the passengers present at the station in which Ansari, his wife and four relatives were killed.
According to local media reports, Ansari was working as a taxi driver and his four relatives as labourers in Mumbai.
The Jharkhand police have approached their Mumbai counterpart to get details of the incident.
Two other people belonging to Giridih district of Jharkhand were also killed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.
A ninth person belonging to Ranchi Malayesh Banerji was killed at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel Wednesday night.
According to family members, Banerji was working as an executive in Reliance Urban Infrastructure Venture Company and he had gone to the hotel to attend a meeting.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren has announced a Rs.100,000 compensation for the kin of the victims.
