Another Mehrauli blast victim dies, toll reaches three

New Delhi : A 24-year-old management student succumbed to critical injuries suffered in the Mehrauli blast early Sunday after battling for life for the past eight days, bringing to three the number of those killed in the Sep 27 terror blast here.

Ishtiaq Ansari died at 5.30 a.m. “Ishtiaq was on life support system since the day he was admitted to the hospital,” M.C. Mishra, director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Centre, told IANS.

The two others who lost their lives in the blast were Santosh (9) and Dipu (23). Santosh was killed and 17 injured in the blast.

Ansari, a first year MBA student of Integrated Management College (IMC), Saket, had suffered serious injuries to his brain and abdomen.

“When he was brought to the trauma centre he was almost dead. We had to work very hard to resuscitate him. His kidney was in a compromised state and his brain was severely damaged,” said Mishra.

Ansari, along with friends Shyam Bahadur (25) and Satyajeet Chaudhari (24), was crossing the flower market in Mehrauli Serai when the bomb went off. Ansari sustained serious injuries while his two friends received injuries in their legs.
