Ghaziabad : The son of a Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) official was abducted but rescued by the Noida police and has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition, police said Monday.
The circumstances under which the Noida police found Rahul Kumar, 15, from the bushes at the Okhla barrage opposite south Delhi’s Jamia Nagar were unclear. The police admitted the boy to a government hospital in Noida without informing his parent’s, the child’s enraged father, Om Pal Singh, told IANS.
Singh, who is posted at the DRDO Bhawan, said that on Saturday evening, Rahul, a class 8 student of the Media Public School at Vartalok in Vasundhara, left his residence for attending a dance completion organized at the Central Park of the society. He was seen at the function till 5.30 p.m.
“When he didn’t return, we tried to search for him at every possible place, including hospitals. Finally, at 11.30 at night, we informed the Indirapuram police about the missing child,” Singh said.
“The next morning, when we wanted he get a case registered with the police, we were sent back without our complaint being attended to. The head clerk (at the police station) even refused to acknowledge our complaint,” the father added.
“On Sunday around noon, we received a call from the ESI hospital at Noida. The caller revealed that Rahul was under their treatment and was in a critical condition. The caller further revealed that policemen from the Okhla barrage post had admitted Rahul at the hospital,” Singh said.
“When we saw the critical condition of the child, we preferred to transfer him to (Noida’s) Kailash hospital, where the attending doctor, after conducting a CT scan, revealed that the child had sustained multiple fractures on his head, forehead and nose. The child was then shifted to the ICU,” the father added.
“We have no personal enmity with anybody here. We are confined to our job and family only. I have informed my boss (a DRDO joint director) about the developments,” Singh said.
The Ghaziabad police chief was not immediately available for comments.
