Talking to IRNA, he said that European countries want to limit the US pressure that is why they have invited Iran and Pakistan in a meeting to discuss worsening situation of Afghanistan.

France has invited Pakistan and Iran to take part in a meeting of Afghanistan s neighbours to help advance peace in the insurgency-hit country.

Paris has asked Pakistan, Iran and other neighbouring countries to attend the meeting because they could play a role in helping Afghanistan reach peace with the Taliban militia.

France, being part of NATO, wants a solution to the issue of increasing insurgency in Afghanistan by inviting its neighboring countries, added Dr. Maqsudul Hasan Nuri.

Dr. Nuri, was of the view that France has invited Iran in talks as Iran is a major country of the region and could pay a very vital role in solving the problems of the region.

The NATO commanders and diplomats have been saying for some time that the Taliban insurgency cannot be defeated by military means alone and that negotiations with the militants are needed to end the conflict.

We have heard that an attempt was being made by Saudi Arabia to solve the issue of increasing insurgency in Afghanistan through establishment of a type of dialogue between Taliban and Afghan government and same is the case with France, said Dr. Nuri.

He added that the meeting is certainly a positive attempt made by European countries to control the worsening situation in Afghanistan.

Buri said that the increase in attacks in Pakistan and its tribal area are the reaction of the military operation that is being carried out in the area.

US wants Pakistan to react more forcefully against militants.

Commenting on the statement of the British official that war against Taliban cannot be won he said that the statement shows that Britain has also changed its strategy on war on terror as a Brigadier alone cannot make such type statements without the consent of his affiliated government.

Britain’s commander in Afghanistan has also said if the Taliban were willing to talk, then there might be “precisely the sort of progress” needed to end the insurgency.

Iran also doesn’t want to see the situation further flaring up because it could be disastrous for the whole region, said Dr. Nuri.
