Ahmedabad, India : Sixteen persons accused in the city serial blasts case, including alleged mastermind Mufti Abu Basher were today sent to police custody till October 16, by a metropolitan court here.
All the accused were produced before metropolitan magistrate G M Patel after their 24-hour police remand ended today.
The court proceedings were conducted in-camera after an oral order by the magistrate.
All the accused were sent to police custody till October 16, after the city crime branch submitted in their remand application that they were involved in the blast that took place in Amraiwadi area of the city which killed four people and injured over six people.
In all, 18 cases have been registered in different police stations of the city with regards to the serial blasts.
According to the remand application of the city crime branch, custody of the accused was required to get information of any more people involved in the conspiracy, source of funding, connection with the Mumbai and Delhi blast accused and their relations with the international terror networks.
The custody was also required to take the accused to Mumbai and Delhi for an identification parade before the SIMI and Indian Mujahideen members arrested at those places.
Those sent to police custody include, Basher, Jahid Sheikh, Imran Sheikh, Sajid Mansuri, Iqbal Sheikh, Samsuddin Sheikh, Gayasuddin Ansari, Arif Kagzi, Usman Agarbattiwala, Yunus Mansuri, Abbas Sameja, Naved Kadri, Javed Sheikh, Ayaz Sayyad, Salim Sipahi and Umar Kabira.
