Clashes continued for third consecutive day in Baramulla

Baramulla : Following the arrest of four youth by police, protests and clashes continued for third consecutive day in Baramulla on Sunday in which scores of persons including five cops have been injured so far.

Eyewitness said hundreds of people took to the streets in Baramulla Township to protest against the arrest of four youth by police on Friday evening. The protestors said that they would continue their protests till the youth are released.

A senior police officer in Baramulla said, “Situation is under control and police have arrested four youth who are involved in stone-pelting on police.”

“We also deployed police parties to tackle the situation in old town Baramulla,” added the official.

Sources identified the arrested youth as Zubair Ahmed Tanga son of Mohmmed Ashraf Noorbagh Baramulla and Parviaz Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Mohmmed Bhat of Limber Uri, and FIR bearing number 168/08 under section 336,353,332,148/149 RPC has been registered agent the duo in police station Baramulla.

However, identification of other two arrested are yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, situation the Baramulla town remained with ongoing clashes between police and protestors. (NAK)
