Shimla : Nine people were killed and 17 were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in rolled down a 200-foot deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district late Wednesday evening, police said.
“The accident occurred after the vehicle’s driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn,” said Mandi superintendent of police M. Chander Sekhar.
He said nine passengers were killed on the spot.
Some the injured were stated to be in a serious condition and admitted to the zonal hospital in Mandi town, 150 kms from here.
The victims, who were from Khajanni and Juggal villages, were returning after attending a birthday party at a village.
