New Delhi : The nippy winds, the faint wintry sun and the cool temperatures that Delhiites have been enjoying could end soon, predicts the weatherman.
The past few days have seen temperatures dip with strong chilly winds and overcast skies giving the impression that it was the onset of winter.
However, meteorological department officials said Friday that the dry cold winds, also known as western disturbances, that provided a pleasant respite from the heat over the past two days were likely to be just momentary.
“The phenomenon was owing to the usual western disturbances which have moved on. It will not affect the country’s weather any longer,” S.C. Bhan, director of the Safdurjung Airport Meteorological Office, told IANS.
“For the next two days, the day temperatures will hover around the 32-33 degrees Celsius mark. Night time temperatures may dip but not drastically. Rains also are unlikely now – as the weather will tend to be dry,” Bhan added.
“It is too early for winter, these disturbances don’t hasten winters. The western disturbances, I reckon, are owing to rainfall in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and snow in hilly areas. Now that it has moved on the weather will not be affected.”
Unlike the past two days when temperature was recorded at 30 degrees, the maximum temperature forecast for the weekend is 33 degrees Celsius. Humidity is predicted to be around 38 percent.
