Colombo : The Tamil Tiger rebels Wednesday morning attacked two merchant vessels of the Sri Lankan government off the Kankesanthurai harbour in northern Jaffna peninsula, defence officials here said.
“LTTE terrorists have carried out a suicide attack targeting merchant ships Ruhuna and Nimalawa, off Kankasanthurai harbour this morning (Wednesday),” a defence official said.
Officials said that the vessels were deployed to transport essential items to northern Jaffna peninsula.
No further details were immediately available.
