A team was sent to inquire into the incident in which Alok was tied and dragged Wednesday and was also made to kneel down in front of the school gate for nearly two hours.

According to information available, Alok was unable to attend school due to health problems, Kumar said.

Corporal punishment is banned in schools following the directions of the Supreme Court, officials said.
