New Delhi : Australian opener Matthew Hayden has described the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Test Series between India and Australia as two “hungry dogs” fighting each other.
“When two hungry dogs are fighting out, it is likely that every now and then there will be a chance when each other will try to smash other’s teeth,” Hayden told reporters on the sidelines of the Twenty20 Champions League Awards night here.
The two teams have established a fierce rivalry off late and on-field confrontations have become a routine in every match. The ongoing series that India leads 1-0 is no different, where both teams have freely exchanged verbal volleys.
It was worse when India visited Australia earlier this year and the confrontation even took shape of alleged racial abuse.
Hayden said the chit-chats on the field during the ongoing series and also Down Under have occurred because both teams play with a lot of passion.
The 37-year-old burly Queenslander, who will be representing Chennai Super Kings in the Champions League, said the eight-team tournament to be held in India from Dec 3 will be an exciting event.
On his former teammate Shane Warne, who will be leading Indian Premier League (IPL) Champions Rajasthan Royals in the Champions League, Hayden said: “We have faced Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. They are the No.1 team in India and we are looking forward to face them again.”
He felt that having a player like Warne is an advantage for any team.
“Shane had an incredible career span for over two decades. He has a cool head on his shoulder and great leadership values,” he said.
