New Bihar Wakf Board chairman vows to recover encroached land

Patna: Newly-elected chairman of Bihar State Sunni Wakf Board Md Irshadullah has vowed to recover the encroached properties of the wakf board and to protect the wakf land at any cost.

Talking to TwoCircles.net Irshadullah said he will give a new direction to Sunni Wakf Board and is ready to give all sacrifices, if required, to protect the wakf land. Without commenting on the condition of the board in previous RJD government he said he will take effective steps as taken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to make ‘New Bihar’, for progress and effective functioning of the board.

To a question he said whatever recourses the board has will be used fully and the income from the board will be used in solving problems of the community. Bihar Sunni Wakf Board will work better than other boards in the country in coming days, he hoped.

Senior JD (U) leader from Barh, once represented by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the Parliament, Md Irshadullah has been elected Chairman of Bihar State Sunni Wakf Board with consensus.

The election of the chairman was held on 20th October at Haj Bhavan here in the state capital. Afzal Amanullah, principal secretary, Minority Welfare Department, was returning officer for the election. All members of the board – Ali Anwar, Manzar Alam, Haroon Rashid, Arshad Hashmi, Ashfaque Ahmad, Md Syed Shah Saifuddin Firdausi, Maulana Nazrul Mobeen, Professor Syed Shah Shamim Munami, Mumtaz Alam and CEO of the board Hasnain Khan except Maulana Syed Shah Mohammad Ayatullah Quadri were present in the meeting.

After consensus on hid name Md Irshadullah was finally announced as chairman of the board. Minister for minority welfares Shahid Ali Khan and the Chairman of the state minority commission Naushad Ahmad were also present at the meeting.

Talking to TCN after the election, Irshadullah said that soon he will start to conduct a fresh survey of wakf properties in the state so that its illegal occupation can be found out and encroachment can be removed. “I will take all necessary steps to abolish occupation from the wakf land after getting its full details from the board.”

On the payment of the board’s employees he responded that he will try his best to ensure timely and regular payment of the board employees.

He expressed hope that he would get help of the minister, minority welfares, and the chairman of the minority commission.

Naushad Ahmad, chairman of the state minority commission, lauded the consensus election of the board chairman and hoped the board will progress under Irshadullah.

Bihar Sunni Wakf Board had no chairman for the three years. It was only headed by the administrator and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
