The protestors set on fire coaches of three trains at Barh Sasaram and Athmalgola, though none was injured.

Four agitators sustained bullet injuries as police opened fire at Sasaram on a mob that set ablaze several coaches of Bikramganj-Varanasi passenger train and pelted stones at several schools and colleges.

”Two of the four persons injured in police firing — one in the eye and another in the chest–have been taken to a hospital in Varanasi in serious condition while the rest are being treated at a government hospital in Sasaram,” Chief Minister Nitish kumar told reporters after reviewing the situation with top state officials.

Appealing to Biharis to exercise restraint “in the face of extreme provocation”, Kumar said “no problem can be solved through violence …. Violence is no answer to violence.” Hundreds of students set on fire the AC coach of Danapur-Durg South Bihar Express. The fire soon spread to two adjoining sleeper coaches but none was injured as the passengers, sensing trouble, disembarked, Superintendent of Railway Police, Patna, D N Gupta, told PTI.

The agitators also set on fire an airconditioned coach of Kosi Express at Athmalgola in rural Patna, besides torching two bogies of Bikramganj-Varasani passenger train at Sasaram.
