Beijing : Chinese President Hu Jintao told Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday that the two countries should take their relations forward with far-sighted, strategic and long-term perspective and also properly handle each other’s concerns.
China and India have maintained sound relations and economic cooperation and collaborated in international affairs, Hu told Singh on the sidelines of the just concluded 7th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Beijing.
“Both China and India are major developing nations in Asia, and developing good neighbourly relations had long been Chinese government’s consistent policy,” he said.
Hu said China and India shared common interests in coping with issues such as the financial crisis, climate change, energy resources and food security.
China would collaborate with India in international and regional issues for the interests of the two countries and other developing nations, he said.
Singh said that India would continuously enhance strategic and cooperative partnership with China in accordance with a joint declaration signed in 2006.
The two countries also agreed to join hands to deal with the international financial crisis.
