Under the leadership of noted social activist Abdur Rasheed Agwan, peace activists and social workers took out a peace march and then sat on a daylong fast.

Talking to TwoCircles.net Abdur Rasheed Agwan said this programme is a bid to help defuse the charged atmosphere after communal violence, serial blasts and encounter and to build up harmony and peace in Jamia Nagar and Delhi. Such programmes will be organized in different parts of the national capital, he said.

“Violence is spreading across the country and people are being divided in castes, class and creed. As the violence is affecting several communities, people should come forward to save the society and the country,” said Agwan.

Reacting to the Maharashtra ATS disclosure that Hindu Jagran Manch was involved in blasts in Modasa and Malegaon, he said the development will help ease pressure and burden on Muslims who have so far been blamed for all bombings in the country.

“Muslims have always denied charge of terrorism and demanded fair enquiry into the incidents. But the police have been hurriedly ‘solving out’ the cases by arresting some Muslims,” said Agwan who himself became victim of this biased attitude of the police.

A couple of days after the Delhi serial bombings on September 13, Agwan was picked by Delhi Special Cell from his home in Shaheen Bagh. After 10 hours of grilling he was released.

Peace activist Vimal Bhai was also on the fast in this programme. He was spinning charkha to send the message of nonviolence, Gandhi’s ideal way of solving the issue.

Nonviolence is the only way to establish peace in the country. Eye for an eye will make the world blind, he said.

While condemning terrorism, communalism and violence over conversions, he said as the country has failed in solving poverty and hunger, it is being pushed to violence to divert public attention from these issues.

He demanded proper investigations in all blasts and also in the Batla House encounter.
