British Muslim council hails arrest of suspected Hindu terrorists

London, Oct 26 (IANS) The Council of India Muslims, a British Muslim organisation, has hailed the arrest of three Hindu suspects in last month’s bomb blasts in Malegaon of Maharashtra and Modasa of Gujarat.

Council chairman Munaf Zeena said in a statement Sunday: “We have always maintained that terrorism is a crime against humanity and there is nothing Islamic or Hindu about it and that the law enforcement agencies and investigating authorities must keep an open mind when probing such crimes. And the arrest of the three criminals belonging to a Hindu extremist organisation has proved our point.”

Zeena said this was perhaps for the first time that the police had acted “impartially” and arrested suspects irrespective of their faith.

He said such a non-partisan policy would go a long way in scuttling the attempts of “the enemies of peace to spread sectarian hatred in India”
