Jammu, Oct 27 (IANS) Five militants of the Hizbul Mujahideen were killed by Indian Army soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district Monday morning.
Acting on a tip-off, the army laid a cordon to nab militants said to be hiding in Metwan in the forested mountains of Kishtwar, about 240 km from here, a spokesperson said.
“We established contact with the group of militants early Monday morning which led to fire-fighting,” he said, describing it as a big success in the run up to elections in the state.
The identity of the killed militants was being ascertained.
