Shimla : Indian food processing major Himalaya International Ltd has signed an agreement with the US-based grocery chain ALDI to sell its products under ‘Himalaya Fresh’ brand name in that country.
“As per the agreement, the ALDI stores will sell frozen vegetables, baby potatoes, breaded appetisers and Himalaya Fresh products through nation-wide chain of 1,000 retail stores in the US,” HIL chairman Manmohan Malik said Wednesday.
“ALDI will sell around $3-million worth products of Himalaya Fresh in a year and the first consignment of 100 tonnes of frozen vegetables and breaded appetisers will be sent to the US next month,” he added.
According to Malik: “The company would sell baby potatoes worth around $.4 million in the US this year and these potatoes, being lower on starch and higher on fibre content, are healthier than large size potatoes.”
