Thiruvananthapuram : The Great India Tour Co Ltd, a premier tour operating firm in Kerala, has announced it will conduct an International Prize Money Bridge Tournament in Kumarakom of Kottayam district to promote tourism.
A company spokesperson told IANS that it has the authorisation of the Bridge Federation of India to conduct the tournament.
“The event would be held next year at a plush hotel near the popular tourist destination of Kumarakom and also on moving houseboats that would ply on the Vembanad Lake at Kottayam,” the spokesperson said.
While the game is a popular sport in the West, a Bridge tournament to promote tourism is being held here for the first time.
The tour operator has already got in touch with Bridge teams in the US, Britain, the Middle East, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, the official said.
The company will also offer special tour packages for the participants to visit other tourist spots in Kerala.
Special packages are being arranged for the spouses of the players also.
The Great India Tour Co in the past were pioneers in launching helicopter tourism, when they connected tourist spots in the state with helicopter.
