“The US government does not simply tolerate that a country like Cuba defends solidarity and values the world needs for the survival of the human specie,” D” Escoto told Prensa Latina.

The veteran Nicaraguan diplomat, politician and priest made these statements prior to the 16th annual voting in the General Assembly of a bill against the economic blockade the United States has imposed to Cuba for almost 50 years.

Lat year, that resolution was unanimously supported at the General Assembly when 184 of 192 UN members voted for the US government suspends that coercive measure against Cuba.

It is expected during the Wednesday voting a new overwhelming support from the UN members, but D” Escoto expressed his sorrow because that will has been systematically ignored.

“I have wondered several times what the Assembly is for when overwhelming voting reflecting the wish of 95-percent UN members are completely ignored,” he noted.

According to D” Escoto, one of the permanent members of the Security Council that identified the United States as very allied asked him why there is more UN democratization, when this organization is based on the principle of a State a vote.

“That is a cynic question because what votes is for if they are not taken into consideration as in case of the US blockade of Cuba, the General Assembly president said.
