“The current financial crisis at the international and national levels is virtually an announcement of the coming to an end of the free run of free-market capitalism,” Yadav told reporters here.

“The US and other developed countries are pumping government money to save the private sector and talking over part-ownership of these companies. The private sector… was supposed to be the great saviour of people. What an irony that now the private sector has to be saved with taxpayers money!” he added.

He further said: “The domestic economy has been completely mismanaged by the UPA government. The inflation went beyond imagination. The boast about India growing under the UPA government with rising sensex levels and GDP growth has gone bust.

“If we are partly saved today, it is because of the so-called obstructionist attitude of the JD-U and the Left parties as a result of which foreign capital could not have its full sway in our economy,” Yadav added.

“The least that is expected from the government is that Finance Minister P. Chidambaram should resign,” he added.
