New Delhi : Legislators of the Delhi Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will donate their salary for the relief of Bihar flood victims.
While Congress lawmakers will be donating their one-month’s salary, BJP legislators will donate their 15 days’ pay.
Office bearers of the Delhi Congress will also donate their one-month’s salary for the relief.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Delhi congress chief Jaiprakash Aggarwal announced the decision Monday in a press conference.
“Congress lawmakers and Delhi Congress office bearers would donate their one month salary for victims of Bihar floods,” Dikshit stated.
Most of the Congress councillors in the capital have also decided to donate their one-month salary for the relief work.
The Congress also made arrangements at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office and appealed to Delhiites to generously donate for the cause.
The chief minister also announced that she had already spoken to Food Corporation of India for helping in the flood relief work.
Opposition leader of Delhi legislative assembly Jagdish Mukhi expressed his concern on the flood situation in Bihar and appealed to Delhiites to contribute for the flood relief work.
“Lok Sabha opposition leader Lal Krishan Advani and BJP’s national president Raj Nath Singh appealed to the countrymen to cooperate and contribute towards Relief Fund for the flood victims,” Mukhi said.
“All the Delhi BJP MLAs have decided to contribute their 15 days salaries for the people of Bihar, who are facing a lot of problems due to flood,” he added.
“A relief fund has also been started in central party Office of B.J.P,” Mukhi further said.
He appealed to Delhiites to contribute to their full capacity for the relief of flood victims of Bihar.
