New Delhi : Sanjeev Nanda, convicted for mowing down six people under his BMW car, has not sought any help from the British High Commission in India, though he holds a British passport.
“British High Commission is not involved anywhere in the case because Mr. Nanda did not approach us for any kind of legal support or help,” Assistant Press and Communications Officer at the British High Commission Upendra Singh said.
“We would have certainly offered him our services if he had asked for any,” Singh added.
The fact that Nanda is a British citizen was revealed during the course of the investigation that hogged media headlines. Nanda acquired the citizenship through his mother who is a British National and holds a British passport.
“Sanjeev’s mother (Renu Nanda) is a British National and when Sanjeev was seven years old, she acquired a British passport for him too,” Ramesh Gupta, counsel for Nanda, told IANS.
