Bhopal: Recently elected chairman of Madhya Pradesh Wakf Board Mr. Ghufran Azam has made an offer to encroachers of waqf land to respect the holy month of Ramadan and vacate the illegally occupied properties.
While talking to reporters in Bhopal last Sunday, Mr. Azam said that month of Ramadan is the month of asking for forgiveness and repent for the past sins. Waqf land and properties are a trust of Allah and therefore any illegal occupation is a serious sin. He requested all those who are occupying any waqf property to leave the possession and ask Allah for forgiveness.
In return, Wakf Board will taking into account the holiness of this month will withdraw court cases filed against them. This offer is only till Ramadan and after that legal action will continue and in fact file fresh appeal in those cases where Wakf Board has lost in court.
Mr. Ghufran Azam, who was elected chairman just a month ago said that those who have built their houses on waqf land will not have to vacate but just have to pay rent to the Wakf Board.
The Wakf Board is planning to request the state government for hiring 50 additional employees to facilitate smooth functioning of the board.
MP is estimated to have 55,000 crores of waqf properties out of which properties worth 30,000 crores are illegally occupied by encroachers.
