“Mayawati, who will conduct an aerial survey of the flood affected areas in Bihar, has appealed to people in Uttar Pradesh to donate liberally to the calamity relief fund and help the flood-affected victims of Bihar,” the official added.

Around 15 districts and 2.5 million have been affected by the floods in Bihar, which were triggered by the waters of the Kosi river in the past two weeks.

The Uttar Pradesh IPS (Indian Police Service) Association has collected Rs.320,000 which will soon be sent to the Bihar government for relief and rehabilitation work, an official statement said Friday.

They raised the funds by donating a day’s salary, the official added.
