Zardari to be sworn in as Pakistani President on Tuesday

Islamabad : Pakistan’s President-elect Asif Ali Zardari will take oath of his office on Tuesday at the President’s House, according to official Associated Press of Pakistan.

Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar will administer the oath-taking ceremony and Zardari will address a press conference and present to the nation his vision to take Pakistan forward, strategy to counter terrorism and to strengthen the economy, said the report.

A Foreign Office statement said the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation members and neighboring countries have been invited to attend the ceremony.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has accepted the invitation and will participate in the ceremony, according to local media reports.

Zardari won the majority of votes in the presidential election held on Saturday. The highest office of the state was vacated by Pervez Musharraf who resigned on Aug. 18 to avoid a possible impeachment from the ruling coalition.
