Islamabad : Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was sworn in as Pakistani president at a ceremony in Islamabad Tuesday, embarking on a five-year term in the top office of the country.
He became the first civilian president of the country after nine years, replacing General Pervez Musharraf, who opted to step down last month in a bid to escape an impeachment in parliament.
