“Amount for improvement of SC localities should be raised. In 2008-2009, Rs.220 million were allocated but that is insufficient,” the report stated.

The committee recommended the construction of public bathrooms, community centres and chopals on priority basis for people belonging to the three categories.

According to the committee, at present hostel facility is available in Delhi for 100 students and that is insufficient in accordance with the total population of SC/STs in Delhi.

The committee also recommended that in all seven Lok Sabha constituencies of the capital there should be one hostel each with a total strength of 1,000 students and priority should be given to SC/ST students while allocating hostel facilities.

It recommended that the entire process of getting higher education loans be more simplified and transparent so that more SC/ST students can benefit.

The committee strongly recommended that all schemes relating to welfare of SC/ST and OBC people in Delhi be streamlined and execution of all the schemes be made time bound for quick benefits to them.
