Ahmedabad : The Ahmedabad division of the Western Railway has recovered Rs.7.3 million in fines from 21,000 travellers for various offences in the last six months, a senior official said.
In the Ahmedabad division, daily 125 passenger trains ply and nearly 112 people are caught travelling without tickets, said WR’s divisional railway manager Rajiv Mishra.
The fines levied from March 2008 to August 2008 were 30.26 percent higher than Rs.5.2 million levied on 16,000 people during same period last year.
