Singur talks break down

Kolkata : The talks over the Nano land controversy between the West Bengal government and farmers’ groups led by the Trinamool Congress collapsed Friday evening, with opposition leader Mamata Banerjee walking out of the talks, claiming that while the farmers demanded return of 400 acres of farmland “forcibly” taken over for the project, the government was willing to give back only 70 acres.
