The sources said the police traced the source of threat email to Chembur in northeast Mumbai.

Teams of police and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and cyber crime experts have rushed to Chembur, the police said.

The terror outfit believed to be the frontal organisation of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (Huji) had also claimed responsibility for Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Jaipur blasts earlier.

As per preliminary information available, the email was sent from a computer in flat no 201 and 202 in Erick House, 16th Road, Cheetah Camp, Chembur, a police official said. The police were yet to identify the particular computer from which the mail was sent.

On Saturday, when Delhi’s market places were crowded with weekend shoppers, six blasts were triggered minutes from each other creating panic in the capital, killing at least 20 people and injuring around 100.

The latest email – “Message of Death” – sent to various media outlets five minutes before the first blast in Gaffar Market and attributed to the Indian Mujahideen says: “Indian Mujahideen strikes back once more within five minutes from now. Do whatever you want to stop us if you can.”

This is the second time in less than six weeks that emails have been sent by Indian Mujahideen using Internet Protocol addresses that have been traced in Mumbai.

In July last, a few minutes before the Ahmedabad serial blasts, the terror outfit had sent emails hacking the email address of US national Kenneth Haywood, living and working in Navi Mumbai.

Incidentally, Navi Mumbai and Chembur are barely 15 km apart, the former located on the mainland, while the latter is on Mumbai island.
