London : The death of one of its soldier in Kajaki brought to 120 the number of British military personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the U.S.-led invasion that followed the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
According to a report released Sunday by the Ministry of Defense, a soldier from Britain’s 2nd Battalion the Parachute regiment was on patrol near Kajaki in Afghanistan’s Helmand province Saturday when he was caught in an explosion.
The Helmand province is a stronghold of Taliban groups where the Great Britain has deployed 7,700 troops.
The Labor government headed by Primer Minister Gordon Brown is planning to increase to 8,030 the number of British soldiers in Afghanistan.
