London : An organisation of Indian Muslims in Britain has condemned the Delhi bomb blasts, describing the perpetrators as “disciples of Satan working to defame Islam and Indian Muslims”, but cautioned the Indian government against a witch hunt.
The Council of Indian Muslims UK (CIM) has asked the government to launch an independent inquiry into the serial blasts so that “innocent” Indian Muslims are not targeted, according to Muslim News. It referred to the investigations into previous blasts in Jaipur and Ahmedabad in which Muslim youth were “detained and harassed”.
“Unless and until there is a resolve on the part of the government and intelligence agencies to hunt the real culprits down, regardless of which community they come from, unmask their identity and make them a lesson for anyone who is planning to walk on their footsteps, we won’t get anywhere,” CIM’s chairman Mohammad Munaf Zeena said in a statement.
Offering condolences to the blast victims, the statement described the bombings as the handiwork of the faithless. “Our message to the perpetrators of this heinous crime is plain and simple: You have no faith. You do not believe in God because no believer would take the lives of innocent human beings and defile the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.”
