New Delhi : Thousands of Muslims in Kerala will take an oath against terrorism during special night long Ramadan prayers later this month.
At least 800,000 Muslims will gather in Malappuram district for shab-e-qadr prayers held on the 26th night of the holy month of Ramadan, which in Kerala will be celebrated Sep 26, said Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleelul Bukhari, chairman of Ma’din Islamic Academy, here Monday.
They will take oath against terrorism at the congregation, Bukhari said. Muslims in the state started observing fast a day earlier than the rest of India. Shab-e-qadr in other states of the country will be celebrated Sep 27. Muslims believe the first verse of the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed on shab-e-qadr.
The programme would be held during a prayer congregation at the night.
They would take oath for harmony, tolerance, love and affection, Bukhari said.
