Man arrested for Myanmar bomb blasts

Nay Pyi Taw : News reports were issued on Sept 12 that authorities discovered an improvised explosive device with a timing device made of plastic hidden under the display of goods in a grocery store in Theindan Ward, Kyaukkyi, Bago Division, at about 7.05 pm on Sept 11.

While clearing the bomb, two other bombs exploded in a video lounge in the same ward at 8.20pm and 8.30pm respectively killing a man and a woman and wounding eight men and one woman.

Following a tip-off, a member of the Karen national Union (KNU), Saw Ya Ko alias Saw Yangon, was arrested at his house, at 4pm on Sept 12.

For 100,000 kyat, Saw Ya Ko confessed that he had detonated the two bombs in the video lounge and also placed a time bomb in a bamboo basket of the grocery store in Theindan Ward.

According to sources, it has been reported that the KNU, the All Burma Student Democratic Front (ABSDF) and the Vigorous Burmese Students Warriors (VBSW) have sent five saboteurs into the country on Sept 10 to detonate bombs in busy places of Yangon.

The authorities concerned are trying their utmost to expose the terrorists and their explosives.
