CISF saves 250 lives in flood-hit Orissa state

New Delhi : The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) of CISF on Monday claimed it has saved more than 250 people in the flood-hit areas of Orissa state.

The Fourth Battalion of the force which is stationed in the Mindali district of the state has deployed 170 of its personnel in the affected areas.

The force is equipped with inflatable boats and other life saving equipment to deal with the worsening situation in the area.

“We have put about 48 boats to carry out rescue operations in the area. At present we are working with the district administration of four districts — Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur,” an official of Central Industrial Security Force said.

NDRF works with National Disaster Management Authority in rescue operations.
