Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday decided to disburse salaries to its employees Sep 27 in deference to the Muslim holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated next Wednesday or Thursday depending on when the new moon is sighted according to lunar calendar.
“Keeping in view the fact that Eid-ul-Fitr would fall due on Sep 30 or on Oct 1, the state government has advanced the pay-day for its employees to 27th of this month,” Basharat Ahmad Dhar, commissioner-secretary general administration department, told IANS.
The gesture of paying its nearly 180,000 employees salaries and wages in advance is aimed to ensure that the state government staff have enough to spend around the festival time.
