Shimla : The 26th Northern Zone Chief Ministers’ Conference to be held in this Himachal Pradesh capital Monday has been postponed, an official statement said Sunday.
In the meeting, the chief ministers of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan, the governor of Jammu and Kashmir and the Chandigarh administrator were to deliberate on internal security, police modernisation, communal harmony and disaster management.
Though the statement cited no reason for the postponement of the meeting, informed sources told IANS that Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who was to chair the meeting, cancelled his visit after Saturday’s bomb blast in the capital.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit too had to cancel her visit.
The last meeting of the chief ministers of the northern states was held in October 2005 in Shimla.
