All India Milli Council meets in backdrop of parliamentary elections

By RINA,
New Delhi : An emergency meeting of All India Milli Council (AIMC) called has come up with a number of electoral suggestions for Indian Muslims but it has strictly avoided supporting any particular party or candidate, though some of the participants severely criticized Congress Party for not allotting sufficient tickets to Muslims.

Appealing Indian Muslims, AIMC has stressed, “This is parliamentary election leading to formation of a new government in the center. Therefore, ensure voting in each and every case.” It further says, “Do not decide your vote on the basis of any local issue or personal relations or differences or association with any particular caste or class or any vested interest rather vote with the center in mind.”

However, the Council’s appeal advises Muslims, “Vote to defeat the parties having faith in Hindu Rashtra, destruction of Mosques and abolishment of personal laws so that law and order remains intact in the country and all communities may live with self-respect and freedom.” It also warns to be vigilant against the attempts being made by RSS and its umbrella organizations to create an atmosphere of Hind-Muslim rivalry before elections.

The advisory note of the Council asks Muslims: “Check your name in the voter list and report any distortion there to concerned office. Do not get trapped by communal provocations, maintain communal harmony and see the elections as an opportunity in favour of the community and the country.”
