On the margins of the summit, he also held bilateral talks with his host and British counterpart Gordon Brown and US President Barack Obama.

“I leave London satisfied that my bilateral and other meetings have been productive and useful, and that the G20 summit has shown the way forward,” the prime minister said, as he left the British capital.

The G20 meeting was held to find ways to help the global economy out of the financial crisis and the leaders committed themselves to pumping $1.1 trillion into multilateral lending institutions to lend to needy countries.
