New Delhi : Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath will represent the country at the ASEAN-India and the East Asia Summit in Thailand on April 11 and 12.
The summits are held annually by the Association of South East Nations (ASEAN) and attended by heads of state/government of the 10 ASEAN member countries and its dialogue partners such as India, China, Japan, Korea. The East Asia Summit will be attended by leaders of ASEAN, India, China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Nath will represent Prime Minister Manmoham Singh at the two meetings at Pattaya in Thailand as ‘India would be looking forward in various cooperation initiatives with ASEAN, including FTA…,’ a Commerce Ministry statement said Monday.
India would be looking forward to progress in various cooperation initiatives with ASEAN including Free Trade Agreement, Open Skies Policy, Science & Technology Fund, Tourism etc.
India would also take up matters related to energy, environment, disaster mitigation, economic partnership study, etc in the meeting of the 16–member East Asia Summit.
