Jammu : The National Conference says creating job opportunities for the umemployed youth in the troubled Jammu and Kashmir is one of the achievements of the coalition government that completes its 100 days in office Tuesday.
The election code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls has barred the Omar Abdullah government from highlighting “achievements” of its first 100 days in the office.
But his party, the National Conference, not bound as a political party by such restrictions, circulated a over 2000-word statement to the media claiming it has made a “promising debut to a six-year innings”.
“During this short period, the government has unveiled its vision of governance, improved delivery system and set pace for development across the state,” the statement said.
The National Conference said bringing the state police in the forefront to replace paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Srinagar city and the announcement to take up the withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) with the union home ministry were among the “marked differences”
“ESSAR announced setting up of two BPO centres, one each in Jammu and Srinagar, creating 2,000 jobs in each city. Foundation of first BPO in Kashmir (has already been) laid,” the statement said.
Recruitment has been put on fast-track and 6,203 selections were made by the state’s recruitment board in two months in non-gazetted cadre while Public Service Commission made 412 selections in gazetted cadre during the same period, the statement said.
It said the government also realised the dream of Srinagar International Airport, as new terminal building of the airport was inaugurated by Congress president Sonia Gandhi Feb 14 when Srinagar-Dubai flight took off.
