New Delhi : In the face of the mounting attacks by Maoists, the Border Security Force (BSF) Thursday issued an advisory to its troops in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa, a top paramilitary force official said.
“We have given some advisory to take some precautions and some do’s and don’ts for security reasons. I hope that things (during the elections) go well,” Director General BSF M.L. Kumawat told IANS.
“The BSF personnel have been advised to follow a standard operating procedure and seek better intelligence input from local police or by themselves,” he added.
Seven BSF personnel going for polling duty were killed and six others injured in a landmine blast triggered by Maoist rebels in Latehar district of Jharkhand early Thursday. In another attack Wednesday Maoists attacked a BSF camp in Bihar’s Rohtas district.
In the first phase of elections for the 15th Lok Sabha, polling was going on Thursday in 124 seats spread over 15 states and two union territories, including the four states.
