Kolkata : The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Saturday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission over alleged hate remarks made by a Trinamool Congress candidate against West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
CPI-M politburo member Sitaram Yechury said: “We have brought to the notice of the commission one of the interviews given by Kalyan Bandopadhyay, a candidate of Trinamool Congress, during which he made wild and improper allegations against Buddhadeb.”
Yechury said the statement aired by a private television channel was on record.
“We hope the EC will not only take cognizance of our complaint, but also take action against the candidate.”
Despite repeated attempts, Bandopadhyay – contesting from the Sreerampore Lok Sabha constituency – could not be contacted.
