New Delhi: The Karnataka High Court has questioned the continued detention of 113 activists of Popular Front of India. The youths were detained when they were protesting against the arrest of 40 others in connection with the communal violence witnessed in Mysore on July 2.
The court has asked the Mysore district authorities to file an affidavit outlining the provisions of law under which the youths have been kept in judicial custody over the last three weeks, says an Indian Express report.
A division bench comprising Justice V Gopala Gowda and Justice K Bhaktavatsalam issued the directive following a habeas corpus filed by one Noor Jehan and five others from Mysore in this regard.
The court expressed its displeasure over the manner of detention when the case came up for hearing this week.
