Islamabad : At least 18 people were killed and over a hundred injured during revelry on Pakistan’s 62nd anniversary of independence, media reports said Saturday.
The Independence Day was celebrated with traditional zest across Pakistan Friday, newspaper reports said.
Seven people were killed and over 100 injured in the southern city of Karachi. Four more people were killed while performing motorbike stunts.
In Lahore, a 17-year-old youth was killed while performing stunts on his motorcycle.
Elsewhere in Punjab, three youths were killed and 150 others seriously injured during similar performances in Kasur. Three people were drowned in the province.
Pakistan’s Independence Day is observed Aug 14, the day on which Pakistan became independent from the British rule in 1947.
