Islamabad : Pakistan’s Ambassador to United States Hussain Haqqani said on Sunday that Pakistan and US wanted to jointly eliminate terrorism from the region.
Talking to PTV, he said both the countries have a joint goal that the threat of Al-Qaeda and terrorists should be removed from the region and the world.
He said it was also desire of the US that terrorist activities should be put to end as Pakistan citizens had been facing the menace for the last many years.
He said Pakistan and US have differences over strategy used for eliminating terrorism and added both countries are holding regular discussions over these issues.
The leadership of the US has also agreed with Pakistan’s point of view that terrorism cannot be eliminated through force only, he added.
He said steps related to political, economic and social spheres should also be used to counter terrorism, he said.
He said entire Pakistan nation is against terrorism and extremism.
He said Pakistan and US are partners and will remain so in future and any misunderstandings between them must be removed, he said adding time has come for both the countries to establish long term relations.
To a question he said, Pakistani community in US should come forward and play a constructive role for Pakistan.
