Kochi: Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal has agreed to become the chief Qazi of more than 400 mahalls (area coming under the purview of a main masjid in an area; there may be many small masjids in a mahall) in Kerala, informed the Sunni Mahall in a press release. The qazi post of these mahalls had been held by late Panakkad Syed Muhammedali Shihab Thangal.
The members of the mushawarah of the Sunni Mahall approached Hyderali Thangal with the request to become the qazi as several mahalls in Malappuram, Palakkad and Kozhikode districts wanted him to hold the post. The mushawarah suggested that all mahalls that want Thangal as qazi should contact him too.
Kalampadi Muhammed Musliyar, president, presided over the meeting. Cherusseri Sainudheen Musliyar, general secretary, welcomed the meeting.
