Schools should play role in Commonwealth Games: Dikshit

New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit Wednesday said that city schools had a large role to play in making the forthcoming Commonwealth Games a success by “inculcating right values” in children to play a good host.

“Principals must inculcate right values with correct information in children and in fellow teachers, so that Delhi would become a wonderful host for 52 visiting nations of the world,” Dikshit said while addressing the annual conference of principals/heads of department of Delhi government schools at Vigyan Bhawan here.

Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and officials of the education department were also present.

The chief minister described principals as role models for students and said that common people look forward to their guidance.

Dikshit expressed the confidence that principals would become a guiding force for growth in all senses for the state.

She added: “Performance of government schools has attracted students in large numbers and the load on these schools has increased tremendously. The schools will be given all kinds of support to cope with the additional rush.”

“Vidyalaya Kalyan Samitis have worked very well for government schools and we will be further strengthening it to achieve the desired goal of right to education,” Dikshit said.
